Plasencia has long made cigars for other companies, but in 2017 they stepped into the limelight with their own brand. Alma Fuerte translates from Spanish to Strong Soul, which encapsulates what Nicaraguan tobacco is about. The blend is all Nicaraguan, mostly Criollo 98, but grown in Esteli, Condega, Jalapa, and Ometepe; the wrapper and binder are from Jalapa.

The cigar opens with cedar flavours, some floral notes, and pepper that soon fades. Black coffee comes to the front as you go down with leather adding to the mix. This is a complex blend but oh so smooth and satisfying.

For their first own brand, Plascencia have done an excellent job.
