Samuel Gawith C H Flake (Chocolate) is a delightful blend of pressed Burley, Latakia and Virginia tobaccos with a chocolate flavour that gently voices its presence.
If you’ve never tried a chocolate flavoured Latakia blend, you’ve been missing out! It may seem at first that cocoa and pine smoke shouldn’t work together but they harmonise well, at least in the proportions found in this tobacco.
The Virginias provide the base of the flavours, with a little citrus hay and some earthiness. Burley is nutty and supports the earthiness, then waxing, waning, gambolling in a flavourfully choreographed dance are the stars of the show, Choco-Latakia!
The flakes are workable into a pipe that you can enjoy over and over again, though there may be a little moisture left in the bowl but it doesn’t detract from the enjoyment.
